Daniel ShockleyNavy Veteran
Daniel Shockley is a retired Navy Veteran who had his large intestine removed due to Attenuated Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (AFAP). Since the surgey, Daniel has spoken around the country to medical professionals about his experience and how the use of a positive mindset has helped him navigate his new life with grace and dignity.
Daniels catch phrase is a reworked verision of the AFAP acronym: "Always Forge Ahead with a Purpose". He uses it to help inspire others who may be struggling after surgery to find meaning and get back to living a fulfilling lifestyle!
As an 8 year hereditary colon cancer (HCC) WARRIOR I'm an advocate for HCC awareness and importance of early detection.
My current project has been collaborating with my local state legislators to establish primary jurisdiction to designate the 4th week of March as Hereditary Colon Cancer Awareness week. It's a daunting task. However, I'm battle tested and up for the challenge.
My Vision is to share my journey on the importance of early detection through local, state, national and international advocacy efforts for rare disease and hereditary colon cancer awareness, as a source of inspiration and encouragement with the goal of overcoming adversity.
